Looking for Korean food in Telok Ayer and want to check prices before you walk in? Here's our main menu in one place: grilled pork belly, pots to share, and the kind of soups Koreans have been eating for generations.
At CheongDamChae in Telok Ayer, we slice Duroc pork belly 4.5mm thick and grill it on cast iron with no foil, and our soups come out bubbling in ttukbaegi (Korean earthenware pots).
What should I order if I want to grill meat?
Naengsam (naengdong samgyeopsal, pork belly): thin-sliced pork belly, the kind you'd find in neighbourhood BBQ joints all over Korea. On weekdays you can order it from 3pm; on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, all day.
Pasam (cast-iron Duroc pork belly with spring onion): 240g of Duroc pork belly from a cast-iron pan, served with pajeori, a tangy, peppery spring onion salad that cuts right through the richness. $48.80++
Jjusam (spicy webfoot octopus with pork belly): spicy marinated jjukkumi (webfoot octopus) in the middle, thin slices of pork belly around the edge, stir-fried together. $48.80++
Not in the mood for pork belly?
Dakbokkeumtang (spicy braised chicken): the chicken stew Korean families cook at home, made boneless here and served in a cast-iron pot. A red, spicy broth with potatoes. $48.80++
Golbaengi-tang (Korean whelk hot pot): whelks, a favourite on Korean drinking nights, in a clear broth with enoki mushrooms, fish cake skewers and chilli. $48.80++
